The Coast Near the Preserve, Tuesday Morning

Juillenne had been rowing for what felt like days, ever since she'd decided to turn around and head back to Fennbirn. Logically, she knew it couldn't have been that long, but the mist that separated her island home from the rest of the world had a way of muddling things. On the way out, after all, it had sent that terrible storm, the one that had-

No. She wasn't going to think about Joseph right now. She couldn't.

Bringing her boat ashore and hauling it up out of the reach of the tide, she looked around with a frown. Sure, she wasn't the most well-traveled resident of Wolf Spring, but she still knew Fennbirn fairly well. And this terrain- this was nothing like Fennbirn.

"Cam," Jules said to her companion, a tawny mountain cat that traipsed along beside her. "I don't know what's going on, but I'm not sure I like it."

Lana was walking on the beach, prompted by the Force for some reason to enjoy the weather, when she saw the boat come ashore.

This, she felt, was why she was here.

“Hello,” she called out, coming up to the girl. “Could you use a hand?”

"Neither do I," Lana confessed, "but I can help you move it up."

She reached out her hand and the Force toward the boat, and carefully lifted it, floating it further in. "How far do you think it should go?"

Keyleth, as it happened, had been taking one of her habitual wanders through the preserve early this morning and come down to the coast to enjoy a little bit of a walk along the beach before she went back to the dorms to get ready for class.

It wasn't too difficult to spot the levitating boat, and she recognized Lana, but the other girl was unfamiliar, and that mountain cat? Definitely caught her eye.

"What's going on down here?" she called, hurrying over. "Is everything all right?"

Keyleth sent a quick, querying glance Lana's way, but went ahead and answered the question.

"Yeah, sure. This is Fandom Island," she said gently. "It's a little bit . . . kind of nestled in between different realities, I guess that's one way of putting it? I'm going to go ahead and guess that you didn't intend to end up here. Unless you did, in which case, congratulations?"

"I'm sorry," Keyleth replied, frowning in a way that might be hard to construe as anything but genuinely apologetic. "I've never heard of it before. Which doesn't mean it doesn't exist! There's probably a lot of places I haven't heard of."

Lana glanced at the cat curiously, but set the boat down gently where the other girl had indicated.

"I'm Lana, by the way. Lana Beniko."
